Botox & Dysport Q & A

What are Botox and Dysport?

Botox and Dysport are two different branded injectables using botulinum toxin, a neurotoxin that comes from certain bacteria, to temporarily pause certain muscle movements. You can refresh your appearance using either medication because small, well-placed doses of them can relieve fine facial lines and certain wrinkles.

At St. Pete Wellness & MedSpa, a board-certified physician plans your treatment and injects either Botox or Dysport carefully to treat the wrinkles you specify. They deliver the drugs in small doses, so they won’t affect nearby muscles and leave you looking expressionless or frozen.

It takes 2-14 days to see your results after they fully develop. Dysport results tend to show up sooner, but Botox may last for longer. Then, you can enjoy them for about four to six months. You can book follow-up injections of either Botox or Dysport to enjoy your results for longer.

Who should consider using Botox and Dysport?

You should consider getting Botox or Dysport injections if you have fine lines on your face and feel that they affect your appearance in a negative way. Whether you feel they make you look older or convey a certain mood, Botox or Dysport can reduce them significantly.

Botox and Dysport are great for wrinkles like:

  • Crow’s feet
  • Forehead lines
  • Frown lines
  • Neckbands
  • Lines at the corners of your mouth
  • Under-eye wrinkles

Side effects are rare and quite mild. If you experience a headache, nausea, or pain at the injection sites, those issues should go away within a few days of your injections.

Am I a good candidate for Botox or Dysport treatments?

In order to be a good candidate for Botox or Dysport, you should be in generally good health. You’ll come in for a consultation before your injections to make sure it’s safe for you to get them. You might be a good candidate for either Botox or Dysport if you:

  • Are over 18
  • Are under 65
  • Don’t have a milk allergy
  • Aren’t pregnant
  • Can discontinue blood thinners, muscle relaxants, and other medications temporarily
  • Have clear skin

If Botox and Dysport aren’t the right options for you for any reason, the team at St. Pete Wellness & Medspa can offer alternative options and suggestions to treat your wrinkles and fine lines. You can also add Botox or Dysport to a comprehensive aesthetic treatment plan alongside other available treatments and services.

To find out if Botox or Dysport can smooth your mild or moderate facial wrinkles, call St. Pete Wellness & MedSpa, or book an appointment online today.
